Pyle PTAU45 amplifier

I never heard of this brand before. I needed a new amp as my old Onkyo amp just stopped working. I am DJ/music producer with a vibrant Ebay lp biz, and am familiar with good sound. I purchased a pair of MAudio powered monitors before this purchase that were disappointing, returned them, Decided I wanted to keep my Tannoy Pbm 6.5 speakers, so started shopping for a new amp. My studio is modest and didn't need a whole lotta power. So I searched and stumbled on this little cute box from Pyle. Price was awesome, nice array of inputs and features(that I really didn't need but seemed nice to have) and the headphone jack was a must.
So I gave the unit a chance and ordered it. Came super fast. Now everything about the product made me happy. The packaging and design of the box was cute, colorful. The unit is solid, knobs with center indent, switchers, (love the blue leds, my favorite color!)input jacks, all are nice quality considering the price point, The SOUND IS AMAZING! clear, DEFINED AND VERY CLOSE TO THE ONKYO. I have had Cerwin Vega amps, Dynaco amps, and this little baby sounds terrific on my Tannoys. Plus the headphone output is nice, clean, good amperage and vibrant.
Only down side is the right speaker wire input is a bit off, but able to get wires in. Overall this unit get an 8.5 to a 9 on a top score of 10. The unit is really very nice, solid box and cool for home use AND a bit of DJING! FIERCE!

  2. I considered the Pyle amplifier because of being so compact. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the amplifier. This little amp has power as well as sound. I am using the amplifier outdoors in a large pavilion, to be used with a large LED TV, DVD player and wireless mikes. There is more than enough power to fill the pavialion and the sound is like being in a theater. Another feature I like is if you have music playing and you use the microphone the music is turned down to allow the person speaking to be heard.
What I do not like is the led dispaly, the lights are to bright and are a distraction. I had to put black tape over them.
This is a great amplifier for the money.

  3. This is better than I expected, and gave me much more room in my garage. I replaced a full-sized home stereo system with this and I love the USB drive!

  4. I got this when it was selling on Amazon for $80 with free shipping. My goal was to put together a shelf system for my kitchen/dinning area that was up to date with today's devices. No, there's not an "Ipod dock", but you can still plug it in to the 3.5mm jack just like every other mp3 device (I don't own an Ipod so this was only a courtesy concern). I haven't fully explored the usefulness of the USB port, but it will not "charge and play" with my Blackberry Torch. I could always plug my device into the wall if need be, so this is only a minor inconvenience. I use my phone as a tuner with the "Pandora" and "Tune-In Radio" free apps, and my SD card loaded with mp3s, which keeps my set-up as simple as possible. I'm an audio geek, so I just happened to have an extra pair of high end speakers not being used to make this set-up possible. These are 4 ohm 91db speakers tuned to 55hz, the PTAU45 drives them easily, and gets satisfyingly loud at only 1/3 volume with my speakers. The amp is rated for 120W AT 4 OHM, so if your speakers are 8 ohm you are getting close to half that power. Sound is clean from top to bottom, no issues with distortion or sloppiness. I compare my set-up with people spending $100+ on Ipod dock boom boxes, granted I have an unfair advantage. You can still destroy one of those boom boxes by simply adding some cheap speakers like the Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair also sold here on Amazon with free shipping ($40 at this moment). You can always step up the quality of speakers depending on your needs and finances, another advantage of going this route. The amp is very compact, but build quality appears solid with nice heft to the unit, and smooth solid control over all the knobs. The biggest knock I can give is for the spring clip binding posts. Yes the LEDs are obscenely bright, but a strip of electric tape fixed that in about 5 seconds so its a non issue. All in all looking at what I got for my money, this is a 5 star value.

  5. I use this amp to power some old near field speakers at my desk. It has worked flawlessly. I have more than enough power for headroom and its small profile lets it sit on the desk without creating an eye sore. I'm very happy with its performance.

  6. I already owned the Pyle Mini 2X75 Watt amp, but it only had one input source. This amp has multiple inputs + the USB input which I have not used yet. I use the amp for listening while out on my deck. I have a CD player hooked up, an HD-Radio and soon satellite radio hooked up. It sounds better than the less expensive Mini amp at lower volumes. In my opinion it is worth the extra money for this amp versus the 2X75 Watt amp, because of the multiple hook-up options and the sound quality.
