Pyle PLDNV78I Double DIN Touchscreen Bluetooth
Installed in my 2003 Chevy Avalanche. Every feature works like a charm and though there is no installation instructions it was rather easy to install but not by using the standard dash kit or the metra wiring harness sold here on Amazon. If you have a more modern vehicle (including most early 2000 models) that you are planning to install this unit to do yourself a favor and get the dash kit with wiring harness by Scosche (it costs more but you will be glad you did) it will make the install much easier and you wont lose your factory warnings from your cars ECM plus it provides a much better wiring harness/diagram and tech support for help and questions.
I have had this unit installed for a few days and thus far I have absolutely no issues with anything, not even the volume issue that some speak of in the reviews I have read around on the net. Sound quality is awesome as well. I have mine powering Pyle gear 4 way speakers front and back, even the sound quality watching a movie is mind blowing. Oh and by the way if your watching a movie and need to stop for a road break and turn the unit off, it will start back up where you left off when you turn the unit back on.
I love this unit and would highly recommend it.
I received today this unit from Pyle, 4 days earlier as the estimated date of delivery.
BalasHapusAs I could read in other reviews, the unit didn't come with an installation manual.
However, everything was in the box including an operation manual.
It took me 2 hours of installation as I've done it before with a similar unit in a different car.
After I got the right wire connector for my Mazda truck, it was just a piece of connecting each wire to the right one.
And voila... up and running.
The settings are all set to Europe, so I had to change this, including the time zone in the compas app - if you don't do this, the clock will keep going back to another time. DVD and motorized screen works very well, fast loading time of the discs and the display quality is great (even better after you set the display setting to the most bright option).
Navigation:
The unit comes with iGo navigation software, which is usable. Please note that you CAN update the maps AND GPS software by modifying the content on the SD Card which comes with the unit. I think I will go for iGo version 8, but for now it works very well.
I installed the GPS receiver that comes with the unit at the right of the unit (passenger side).
I got reception of 8 GPS satellites average, which is good.
Sound:
Sound quality is better as I had with the factory stereo for this car. With 4 x 80 watt sound, especially when playing DVDs, you will have a good quality of sound coming out of this Pyle unit. Adjusting the equalizer in the settings menu is helping too!
Bluetooth:
Worked very well with my Samsung Galaxy phone. The built-in microphone provides hands-free phone calls. I tried this when I wasn't driving, so I have to see of the quality of the sound and microphone is still good when there is some background noise.
Also playing music over Bluetooth works fine, however there are no control settings during playing of your music.
Ipod:
The unit comes with an iPod connector which I used with my wife's iPhone - it works very well and also a full control menu is visible on the screen.
DVD:
As I said, loading time is better as I expected - and quality of sound / picture is something I'm really happy about.
I can hear the digital channels separately when playing a dolby surround 5.1 dvd.
Please note that you have to wire the 'parking' wire to a ground wire in order to watch DVD during driving. If you don't, you will get the message on screen : 'Video has been disabled for your safety.'
Personally, I'd like to see the DVD at anytime, also for passengers, so I wired the parking wire to a GROUND (black) wire so this message won't popup.
Other features:
You can customize the background and logo settings, which gives you more possibilities to adjust this unit and makes it more fit to your car. I changed the logo during start up into Mazda. Overall booting time is about 10 seconds. The first time it took about a minute.
Conclusion:
I think this unit is a lot of value for this price. Keep on mind that this unit is made in China (even with the Pyle brand) and has many features. To compare the price to other brands with the same amount of features is about $ 800 - $ 1000.
Very complete, but you need some knowledge to install this unit. But with a little bit help of a friend and internet it shouldn't be too hard to get this job done. Have to see how the unit works after a few months, but for now I'm a very happy owner of this Pyle unit!
I installed this unit in my 2006 Chevy Express and the install turned out great. I have installed hundreds of car stereo / navigation / mobile entertainment systems, and this one really gave me a tough time. If you have never installed a unit like this, or are at all hesitant, DO NOT INSTALL IT YOURSELF. IT DOESN'T COME WITH AN INSTALLATION MANUAL. There is no metal sleeve for you to install in your dash and slide the stereo into, most double din radios don't use this method. I had to custom fabricate mounting brackets and only used the face trim piece (also had to be trimmed so the unit would fit inside) out of the installation kit. This unit also has a lot of connections. You get the basic 4 speaker + power, 2 sets of pre-outs (front and rear), 1 mono sub out. There is also the standard antenna input, gps antenna input and ipod cable connection. It has an aux input (right, left, and video), back-up camera input, and 2 video out connectors. The unit also has a power antenna, amplifier power, back-up light sensor, and parking break connection. There are 3 other wires that I haven't been able to find any documentation on. These are labeled key 1, key 2, and key ground. I believe these are used for steering wheel controls, or wired remotes possibly for the 2 video outputs. All this wire, and the fact this is a full double din unit, takes up a lot of space in the dash. If you are feeling up to it, give the installation a try, just safe the beer for after the install. Powered up, the unit responds well, is easy to operate, and functions better than I had expected. Still trying to find an update for the gps. Went to the gps website to find update, but the unit isn't on the supported devices list. Guess I will have to call tech support tomorrow. The bluetooth mobile phone interface is excellent and makes operating your phone while driving easy and "safe". The microphone it located in the face of the unit, so you at least don't have to install that. The front panel also has a mini usb port and comes with an adapter cable to allow you to use a standard usb thumb drive.
BalasHapusThis was fairly easy to install although there are no instructions. It works well but the out video has alot of feed back and doesnt play all movies clearly on my rear monitor. the built in sim card means no more dvd changing I can but a bunch of movies on it and the kids hatch for long trips. AVI seems to play the best on this device. But over all for the price I am very happy with the device

The product is everything and more.The radio I had prior, not from amazon.com of course, was more than twice the price and did much less. In case you're wondering don't by any BOYO products.If your looking for something with a bunch of features, easy to install, and very reasonable, this is it. Ten thumbs up!!!!!

BalasHapuspick this up aweek ago there is ton more features not listed on amazon the unit sound really great, GPS is completely full screen plus am a truck driver i got this for my rig and notice that there is a feature for truck rvs and so on this thing is really huge i totally recomend this, i have been searching amazon for 3 month looking for the ideal radio this was not listed at the time . with ton of features am suprise the unit is this cheap pioneer , boss aint got nothing on this unit !!
