Bazooka BTA8100FHC 8 Inch Powered Subwoofer
I spoke w/ tech support at Bazooka (well, I called them and kept asking questions and they eventually put me in touch with a techie:)...Super nice staff, gentleman there suggested the 8" are their most popular size for the tight bass it produces. The 100 series amps you do NOT need to run a power wire up to the battery (you don't need ANYTHING besides what's in the "FHC" box). The 250 watt amps you have to manually splice into the speaker wires, and run a fused powerline thru the firewall up to the battery). For me the 8100 sounded perfect, and after installing it this weekend, it does sound perfect! I wasn't looking to win any bass competitions or rattle the parts off of my truck, just fill in all the missing lows in my rock. Fit under the rear seat of my Honda Ridgeline. Not sure how it would sound in a car trunk, but is great in the truck.
Nice advantage is you can put your headunit's bass settings lower, which allows you to turn up your door speakers louder as well w/o pushing them as much. It really adds a big "sound" for pretty cheap and the install, if you are DIY motivated was pretty simple. I ran the wiring under the door sill trim to the back seat even just took a few hours. If you have a Ridgeline search the ridgelineownersclub.com for install pics.
I should advise that my Honda Ridgeline did "not" have the stereo/12v "remote amp" power line that one of the 6 FAST 9999 wires was supposed to splice into. But, their tech support informed me (they answered my tech support request on a Sunday even!!) to just put both of the 9999 power lines into the main ACC/12v switched power line. Not sure if others will have this issue as well, but you can contact them for support on their online forum from their company website if so. Not sure if Amazon will allow this link but you can see the install issue I had and the solution there: [...]
This is a great product for someone who is looking to add some pure and deep bass to their vehicle. It will not make the entire neighborhood thump but adds depth and enjoyment to my music while I am driving. Compact and easy to install - highly recommended!
BalasHapusIncredible!! Bazooka has come up with a winning active (powered) or passive subwofer for us people who aren't into car audio competition or jiggling the license plate bolts out of the back of our cars. In other words, a sub for us "in betweens." I love the response from these and the fact that I can wedge them just about anywhere in my cars or trucks makes them especially appealing. I have bought three of them so far. One in the back of a pick up I own, the other in the back of a 2000 Camaro B4C and the other, the third in the back of my 1999 Toyota 4 Runner. This one is under the cargo cover, hidden from prying eyes.
BalasHapusThese Bazooka subs are an awesome piece for the price. Truly a prize winning sub for us "other people."
Thanks for the deal Amazon!
This sub has far surpassed my expectations. I am a tech guru and have done many car installs of equipment. I also work on computers along guitar, amplifier and effects products so I would say I have much more knowledge than your average electronic person. The install would be cinch for anyone who has ever installed any amplifier system in a car and maybe even those that haven't ever installed. The FAST harness is quick and simple. You just look up your cars wiring and match up the labeled wires to the right color wires in your car. After that you can run the wire under your door sills and along the paneling back to the sub. It's one sealed group of wires and can provide a very clean look. By not having to drill through the firewall and just tapping the wires to the receiver, this is so amazing. I have a 2011 Eclipse and I bolted the Bazooka Tube in the trunk facing toward the rear wall. It looks very clean. I was very skeptical of the 50 watt version(almost made the jump to 100w) but I am pleasantly surprised. Keep in mind the Eclipse has an open hatchback so the sub doesn't need much to be loud and the car already had a decent set of speakers in it stock. It has plenty of bump for me now(I mainly listen to classic rock and modern rock). It can't handle deep bass(I think the cutoff is around 40hz) but it can definitely enhance your system. In my 2000 Accord, which was totaled recently, I had an 800w RMS Kenwood amp feeding a JL 10w7 and while its nothing compared to that, it holds its own very much for ease of installation, sound quality and most importantly price. At $125 and a mere 30 minutes to install this is well worth the $$$. Good job Bazooka, as this is my first Bazooka product, I am pleasantly blown away by this experience.
BalasHapusI bought this unit because i wanted to just fill in some of the missing low end frequencies that were missing from my system without taking up the whole trunk in the process. I figured i could get this one and if i needed a second one then this one is already set up to accept a passive sub. At this time however i find myself not needing another sub, and for that matter i have had to turn down the bass out of this one with some of my music.
BalasHapusIf you want a sub that is going to set off car alarms then this isnt for you, but if you want great sound with a tiny package without breaking the bank, this is definitely the one you want.
I listen to contemporary christian rock music and classic rock such as Bon Jovi, Whitesnack, Def leppared and AC/DC. I was looking for something to fill in the low end of the sound sprectrum of my factory JBL sound system. This Bazooka tube fit perfectly. I now have a balanced sound system in my Toyota 4-runner. I have the Bazooka tube's gain set at a 1/3 of the way up and highs and mids going to the 6 factory speakers and I have to say it sounds awesome. Perfect. I have gotten compliments from everyone that has set in my SUV. They all have been very impressed with the output of this sub and the factory sound system. If you are looking for something to rattle windows this isn't for you. If you are wanting everyone at every stop light to hear you than this isn't for you but if you are looking for something to fill in those low notes that your coaxial speakers will not reproduce and give you a sound as if your sitting at a concert than you will probably not do better than this product. I will also say that you will not find a better place to buy this sub from than Amazon.com.
BalasHapusi give this subwoofer 2 enthusiastic thumbs up! my last several cars have been equipped with outstanding sound systems and i got rather spoiled. when i purchased a new car last month, i found the sound to be shallow. being a "girl" i did not know what to purchase to make the sound richer and fuller. i asked around and a sound technician suggested this subwoofer. i did some more research and went ahead and ordered this bazooka. WOW!!! what a difference it made. it was installed by a professional in a couple of hours and i could hear the bass pumping as i walked back to the garage where it was being installed. i DID NOT want window rattling teenage bass, but a fuller richer more crisp sound. the bass from this bazooka enriched the sound, and even brought out the highs of the treble in the the sound system and improved the sound wonderfully overall. i promised myself that i would write a review so any other 30something or 40something female with the same dilema would be able to make a quick easy decision and be on her merry way without all the time i spent researching and holding my breath! ps: the bazooka subwoofer was installed in the trunk of my car which is a small 4 seater convertible with a small trunk. it does not inhibit the movement or storage of the top and i still have trunk space for shopping bags! enjoy....
